Consultation meeting was held on the status of e-GP implementation.
The World bank (WB) team including Dr.Rajish (senior procurement specialist at WB) has come to consult the way how the system is practical, to heard the enhancement briefing, to evaluate the current performance of the system and its outcome and even what benefit that we gain, our country Ethiopia has gain from such practice, what challenges face while practicing it and to give constructive comments that helps to revise the planned activities.
The opening remark was delivered by the Director General of the Public procurement Authority Honourable Mrs. Meseret Meskele, she gave special thank for the WB team that gives such opportunity which helps the authority to enhance system implementation.
The Director General also forwarded that to have positive effect on practicing Electronic Government System (e-GP) is mandatory to optimize electronic communication that is why the government has designed revised public procurement proclamation No.1333/2024 and fully aligned with e-GP system having its own new directives which has been approved.
She also justified about the benefits what we have gain as a country, like the reduction of paper consumption, transportation cost, promoting transparency, and other related instances in her speech.
Following this, Briefing was also held by the Vice Project Manager Mr. Yafet Mekonen, starting from the general overview of what will be in his presentation, following with the legal and conceptual framework of the system, the overall status and system integration activities in relation with upgrading the system, the challenges, mitigation solution and the way forward were included.
Chance was also given for the developer to deliver presentation about e-GP enhancement on their side, Mr, Ewunetu Abera( the developer of the e-GP system) give briefing about all the modules, challenges and possible solutions what they plan to sustain the system.
Following with the aforementioned presentation, the WB team had also raised the issue related to the system related comments and questions) and international consultancy, cooperation to own (take over) the system from the developer, experience sharing from other countries and addressing the issue of problems and sustainability of the system.
Suggestions and responses were given by the Director General of FPPA, the Vice Manager and others. Indeed, conclusion remarks were also forwarded.
