Federal Public Procurement and Property Authority Shared its Experience for Mozambique Delegates on Electronic Government Procurement System.

(Nov. 19/2025) Addis Ababa – A high-level experience-sharing discussion was held today between FPPA officials and Mozambique delegates, focusing on the progress and implementation of Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system.

During the session, H.E. Mrs. Meseret Meskelebriefly explained that the Electronic Government Procurement system enhances transparency and reduces corruption.  H.E. Mrs. Meseret Meskele added it also ensures fairness, strengthens accountability, and builds public trust in public procurement processes.

The Mozambique delegation visited Ethiopia with the primary objective of learning from Ethiopia’s experience in digital procurement reform. The discussion highlighted Ethiopia’s achievements in automating tender processes, improving access to procurement information, and creating a fully traceable and auditable procurement workflow.

H.E. Mrs. Meseret Meskele explained that the e-GP system has significantly minimized human intervention, and improved efficiency across government organizations. The platform enables suppliers to access tenders, submit bids, and track procurement decisions online.

On the other hand, Mr. Ewnetu, PERAGO founder and manager, delivered a detailed presentation on the structure, operation, functionality, and overall process of the Government Electronic Procurement (e-GP) system.

In his remarks, Mr. Ewnetu emphasized that the success of the e-GP platform is fundamentally rooted in strong leadership and a well designed institutional framework. He noted that Ethiopia has been able to implement a robust electronic procurement system largely because of the government’s firm commitment to leadership and the establishment of a clear, organized structure to support the platform.

Furthermore, Mr. Ewnetu highlighted the importance of system integration as a key factor in ensuring the effectiveness of the e-GP system. He explained that the platform is now interconnected with critical national systems, including financial institutions, the national ID, and other key government platforms, enabling seamless data exchange and improved service delivery.

Finally, both parties expressed interest in strengthening cooperation and exploring opportunities for continuous experience sharing as part of broader continental efforts to enhance transparency, accountability, and digital governance in public procurement.
